An early strike by Wycliffe Ochomo is all that Kakamega Homeboyz needed on Wednesday 26 April at the Mumias Complex to shatter Ulinzi Stars six-match unbeaten streak into the 2017 Kenyan Premier League season.
Ochomo struck in the fourth minute against his former employers to deliver all spoils for Homeboyz who came to the game on the back of a three game win less streak having gone down 2-1 and 1-0 to promoted Nzoia and Gor in their most recent games. The earlier game was a 1-1 draw with Posta Rangers.

Ulinzi Stars on their part arrived fresh from a 5-1 pummeling of Mathare United last Sunday and were on an 11-match unbeaten check dating back to last season. Their last league defeat was a 1-0 away loss to Chemelil Sugar on 24 September 2016.
Ochomo however did not live to see the second half as he was slapped with a red card with a minute to half time but his side defied the numerical advantage from the soldiers to defend their lead to the very end.
Homeboyz now leaps from 13th spot to ninth with nine points to within three points of Ulinzi Stars who maintained fourth spot despite the Mumias defeat.
