Sudanese Premier League champions Al Merreikh are set to unveil former AFC Leopards tactician and Belgian Luc Eymael as the Head Coach of the Khartoum based outfit.
The reigning Sudanese Cup champions failed to renew the contract of Frenchman Diego Garzitto who had been in charge since December 2014. During the 65-year-old’s time, he led the cub to the semifinals of the 2015 CAF Champions League.
Pen to paper
A source from the club has revealed to Soka that the two parties have agreed terms over a possible move that will see him dump Oman Professional League side Al Nasr Salalah, a club he took over in early November 2015.
When reached for a comment, the 56-year-old confirmed the development whilst noting that nothing is complete yet until he puts pen to paper in the course of next week.
“Yes, they announced that yesterday but i have a game tomorrow (Thursday) and I wanted to coach it. After that, I will go home on Friday to solve a family issue, fly back to Oman on Saturday to finalize with my current club (Al Nasr) for the buyout clause.
“Even though they (Al Merreikh) confirmed me, I will always be careful because nothing is done before the signature. I will however be proud to coach the team and like everywhere, I will try to do my best to bring good football in the team and to give pleasure to the fans,” Eymael stated to Soka.
While at Al Nasr, the much traveled coach took charge of six matches, winning three and drawing as many. He joins a club with vast experience having handled AS Vita Club (DRC), Missile FC (Gabon), Rayon Sports (Rwanda), JS Kairouanaise (Tunisia) among others.
