Gor Mahia will miss the services of defenders Harun Shakava and Joash Onyango when they take on Cameroon's New Stars de Douala in the CAF Confederations Cup playoff match on Sunday 13 January at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
The two are said to have been involved in a confrontation during last month's CAF Champions League qualification match against Nigeria's Lobi Stars in Enugu.
A letter from CAF has confirmed that Shakava had a retaliatory attack by kicking Lobi Stars keeper during the melee while Onyango insulted the referee.
"You are kindly requested to note that both Gor Mahia players no.12 and no.18 are provisionally suspended from taking part in CAF inter-clubs matches until the submission of the case to CAF Disciplinary board in its next meeting (January 13).
"The goalkeeper of Lobi Stars, John Lawrence (16) slapped player no. 18 Haron Shakava of Gor Mahia who then went to kick back the goalkeeper. The referee was about to show them red cards yet the referees were evacuated by the police due to the pitch invasion.
"Reports indicate that player no. 12 Joash Onyango came towards the referee at the end of the match and insulted him with abusive language," read the letter from CAF in part.
Without his first choice central defense duo, coach Hassan Oktay could turn to Pascal Ogweno, Charles Momanyi with Joachim Oluoch as backup.
