Uganda Cranes’ midfielder Khalid Aucho has joined promoted South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Baroka FC on a three year deal.
The 22-year-old Ugandan international put pen to paper in the evening of Wednesday 24 August at the club’s offices to join his teammate in the National team, Geoffrey Massa who joined the side at the start of the 2016/17 season from Bloefontein Celtic.
Aucho left Nairobi for South Africa on Wednesday morning to finalize on the negotiations after the club had shown interest in the defensive midfielder. He is hoping his paper work will be in order just in time to make his debut when they visit Highlands Park on Saturday 13 September.
The player expressed delight in the deal, saying he is looking forward to successful stay down South in what will be his second professional year after a three and a half year stint in Kenya.
The former Jinja Municipal, Water FC, Simba and Tusker FC man prior tried out with Scottish side Aberdeen FC recently but the deal didn’t materialize.
He has two Kenyan Premier League (KPL) titles on his name, a CECAFA Kagame Cup runners up, two DStv Super Cup and one three KPL Top 8 medals.
He is among 32 players expected in Uganda Cranes camp ahead of an international friendly against Kenya on Tuesday 30 August and a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Comoros on Sunday 4 September.
He has two goals in 17 appearances for the National team.
