Bright start as Kenyan forward bags debut hat trick in Tanzania

After promising her fans that she will try and score as many goals as she can this season, Lilly Awuor did not disappoint; leading the onslaught as her new team, Kigoma Sisters FC, trounced Panama FC 4-0 in the season opening game of the Tanzania Women Premier League. 

Debutant Awour drew first blood on the half hour mark with her first goal for her new club, before Shelda Boniface slotted home a second seven minutes later to see Sisters take to the breather a two goal cushion. 

Delight

On resumption, Awuor completed her brace with the third goal for Kigoma Sisters on the 64th minute, then completed her hat trick on the 77th minute.

Speaking to Soka after the emphatic win, Awuor expressed gratitude and delight at scoring on her debut.

"I would like to thank God for the result today, It wasn't easy but we won. I got immense support from my teammates, and am looking forward to scoring more goals in the next match," she said.

Lauded

Kigoma Sisters coach Aggrey Siang'a also lauded Lilly's performance, acknowledging her work rate in training, predicting she will be a force to reckon with in the season. 

"I believed in her and she did not let the team down. She has been working hard in training and also did well in the friendly matches we had in our preparations. I hope she maintains the good performance and extends it in the upcoming matches," he said.

In the other matches, Evergreen beat Fairplay 2-0 while JKT edged Mlandizi sisters 4-1 as Mash academy thrashed Majengo 5-1 while Baobao played to a barren draw with Kagera. Mburahati were held to a 1-1 draw by Viva FC.
