Kenyan Internationals David Owino and Anthony Akumu both started for Zambian Super League (ZSL) giants in their 1-0 fall to bitter rivals Nkana Football Club at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Wednesday 16th.

With just a point separating second-placed United from top on the log Lusaka Dynamos, a win would have been very much welcome for the Ndola based side who the midweek result have them stuck at second with a game in hand.

Zesco had fallen to Dynamos on the 10th of August but bounced back three days later with a 1-0 dismissal of Nchanga Rangers. This week 23 ZSL clash however, was to serve another loss as Diego Apanane's 73rd minute goal proved to be the difference. The win lifts Nkana to 5th on the 20 team ZSL log and are just three points adrift of Zesco.

Lusaka Dyamos with three wins on the bounce stay top.

Other week 23 results:
