KCCA FC midfield dynamo Mutyaba Muzamir's first half brace and a third from Derrick Nsibambi aided the Uganda Cranes to a comfortable 3-0 first leg advantage when they played hosts to Rwanda's Amavubi at the St Mary's Stadium in Kitende in a 2018 CHAN Qualifiers match.
Aimable Nsabimana hacked down KCCA foward Nsibambi in the 13th minute for a penalty calmly dispatched by Muzamir. He would complete his brace ten minutes later. With a win looking very likely, the second half witnessed a series of changes. First, another KCCA man Tom Masiko replaced the day's captain Bernard Muwanga as the second half kicked off.
Nsibambi then further put the match out of Amavubi's reach and this later saw the withdrawal of brace-hero Mutyaba for Mucureezi Paul- yet another KCCA man as interim coaches Fred Kajoba and Moses Basena had their debut win since Serbian Milutin Sredojevi's departure.
Cranes will carry the three goal cushion to Kigali on August 19th for the return leg and should they keep Amavubi at bay once again, Uganda will be assured of a place in the 2018 CHAN Finals to be held in Kenya in January 2018.
