Chapa Dimba na Safaricom is set to host the Western Regional finals at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 January, 2019.

Four girls and four boys’ teams will assemble at the Bukhungu Stadium to contest the semis on Saturday from where the winners will book tickets to the finals set for Sunday.

Reigning girls champions Bishop Njenga will start their title defense on Saturday against new Bungoma sub branch champions Brenda Girls.

Busia sub branch champions Kingandole, the beaten semifinalists in the first edition held at Kanduyi Stadium, Bungoma in February 2018, will be up against Ibinzo Girls in the second semifinal.

The Busia girls will hope to go one better this time round as they fell 4-0 at the same stage last time round to Shinyalu who went on to lose 1-0 to Bishop Njenga in the final. Violet Wanyonyi scored the separating goal.

For the boys, will it be second time lucky for Lugari Blue Saints? That's the question, and answers will be sought on Saturday. At a similar platform in the first edition Lugari Blue Saints lost out to eventual winners Mukumu Boys 2-0 to miss out on a trip to the national finals. Peterlis Odero and Alvin Mang’eni second half goals knocked them out.

To dream of a second successive trip to yet another Western regional final, The Blue Saints who successfully defended their Lugari sub branch title will be up against new Bungoma sub branch champions Bukembe Friends in the fourth semi final on Saturday.

The winner of that clash will face off with either St. Peter's Mumias aka The Saints or Ebbu Stars of Vihiga who will set off the boys’ games with the first semifinal.

The two finals, for girls and boys will be staged on Sunday, from where the winning teams will take home Kshs 200,000 as well as direct tickets to the national finals to be held at Kinoru Stadium, Meru in June, 2019. The runners-up will settle for Kshs 100,000.

Individual Awards

Save for the team purse, there will also be three individual awards on offer for both the girls and boys: Best Player, Top scorer and Best keeper. Each of the three awards attracts Kshs 30,000.

In the last edition, Alvin Mang’eni of Mukumu Boys and Miriam Orapidi of Bishop Njenga emerged as the MVPs as Maxwell Mulili of Mukumu Boys and Stela Ahono of Bishop Njenga were picked out as the best goal keepers

Brian Chala of Mukumu Boys and Noel Kipleting of Lugari Blue Stars shared the boys' top scorer's award as Violet Wanyonyi and Sharon Manto of Bishop Njenga as well as Sharleen Opise of Shinyalu shared the girls' award.
