A showdown is looming in West Pokot County as Chapa Dimba na Safaricom edition one boys champions Kapenguria Heroes kick off their title defense on Saturday 8 December, 2018 against Murkwuit at the Chewoyet Secondary grounds.
The tie will headline action on the day as the tournament rolls on to Rift Valley turf having successfully concluded in Western and on the verge of concluding its grass root games in Nyanza region.
The highlight at Chewoyet will be in the second game when the Heroes – who nipped Gor Mahia Youth in March to the National title at Bukhungu in Kakamega to take home Kshs 1 million and book a flight to London – face the hosts in the second game. The winner of that three-team pool will progress to the second phase of the competition.
National girl’s runners up Tar Tar will also be in action at the weekend when they face off with Pokot Ladies at the Makutano Stadium on Saturday. The side narrowly missed out on making it a clean sweep by West Pokot sides after they lost to Plateau Queens of Nyanza – now deposed of their title - in the national finals.
Other than in West Pokot, games will kick in four other sub branches that make up Football Kenya Federation’s North West Rift branch. 62 teams registered for the games and in the first weekend up to 49 games have been lined up.
Action will also start off in one of the five sub branches of North Rift branch. 35 boys’ teams will activate the games across eight different venues. Up to 45 games make up the Uasin Gishu fixtures on weekend one.
North Rift boys champions Mwiruti Secondary will start their branch title defense on Sunday against Yamumbi FC. Langas Super Stars will also be contesting the same pool.
Games in two other branches in Rift Valley; South and Central Rift will kick off next weekend.
