After a five and a half months break, the age grade tournament Chapa Dimba na Safaricom is set to make a return with the launch of the second edition at the Woodley Grounds, Kibera on Saturday 15 September 2018.

Once again Safaricom is partnering with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in rolling out the tournament across the country.

Program

The launch program kicks off as early as 9am EAT with Nairobi girls champions Beijing Raiders and their male counterparts Gor Mahia Youth hosting the overall national champions Plateau Queens from Nyakach and Kapenguria Heroes of West Pokot in exhibition games.

The tournament, targeting both boys and girls in the age category 16-20 years, concluded its first edition in March this year with the national finals at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.

London trip

Plateau Queens and Kapenguria Heroes scooped top honors and took home Kshs 1 million each and earned a one week trip to London to meet the tournament ambassador and Kenya captain Victor Wanyama as well as getting the chance to undergo some training.

This year’s tournament, set to kick off in mid-October in Western and end in May 2019, will be a little different as Safaricom has partnered with La Liga.

At the end of the tournament an all-star boys' and girls' team, to be scouted from the eight regional finals will travel to Madrid for a ten day boot camp.
