Chemelil Sugar headcoach Abdalla Juma has heaped praise on his team’s defensive discipline in their weekend league triumph away to Bandari on Sunday 24 September and likened their performance to English Premier League side Manchester United’s performance over the weekend also against Southampton.
Chemelil overcame a resilient Bandari side at the KPA Mbaraki Sports Club after taking the lead in the 20th minute through Shapan Siwa and went on to put a defensive masterclass to walk away with all three points plus a clean sheet, there second in a row and fourth in their last six league games.
“We planned purposely to play a defensive game after scoring first,” Juma is quoted as saying on the KPL official website. “Same as the way Manchester United did against Southampton on Saturday.”
With the win Chemelil leapfrog Bandari to ninth place on the table with 34 points from 27 games. They host Mathare United on Sunday 1 October at the Chemelil Sports Complex.
