Goals from Hillary Echesa and John Mwita were enough to seal three points for hosts Chemelil Sugar in a 2-0 win over AFC Leopards at the Moi Stadium Kisumu in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) duel played on Sunday 9 April.

AFC Leopards started knocking on Chemelil’s doors early, with Ghanaian forward Gilbert Fyamenyo’s shot veering off target in the quarter hour mark. Hillary Echesa would have put the Sugar millers ahead in the half hour mark after connecting with Yusuf Juma’s corner kick, but his effort went slightly off the mark.

John Mwita opened the scoring for the Chemelil in the 49th minute with a superb header that had Ian Otieno in the Leopard’s goal well beaten. Hillary Echesa then doubled the visitor’s tragedy with goal number two in the 61st minute, after slotting home a loose ball in the area.

The win sees Chemelil climb up to fourth in the standings with seven points as Leopards who started the weekend at second place drops out of the top five.
