Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Sofapaka will be traveling to Mombasa to face off with Bandari FC but head coach Sam Ssimbwa will have to make his plans for the clash without two of his key players – Bernard Mangoli and Humphrey Okoti.
Both players are out injured and even though the coach acknowledges there has been an improvement in their recuperation, the Saturday 14 October match comes too soon for them and admits their absence is a massive blow.
According to the coach, Mangoli suffered a toe injury in the game against Gor Mahia two weeks ago while Okoti is out with a groin injury but he is confident from within the team he will find worthy replacements.
“The two are definitely out; the report from the doctor is better but they are not going to be ready for the match. It is a blow to us because someone like Mangoli had picked up well and was playing a big role in midfield; the injury comes at a very wrong moment for us.
“While we will miss them, I am not so worried because I have many other players who can fit in the positions and I believe we will do well there,” he told Soka.
Knowledge of the Dockers
Mangoli and Okoti are both former Bandari FC players and Ssimbwa was banking on not only their ability on the pitch, but also their knowledge of the Dockers. Even as he guns for a win in the game, he wants to see his charges employ caution in the game.
“It is a tough game; remember they came to Nairobi and forced a draw with us so while we want to win this game, we will also be cautious. I know they have not been doing well lately but it doesn’t mean they are not strong.
“They have a great coach and playing unit so we will try and give our best,” he added.
Sofapaka will also miss defender Willis Ouma, who starts his two match suspension on the weekend while Bandari will also be without midfielder Anthony Wambani who is starting a two match ban.
