The Emerging Stars, Kenya's U23 side on Tuesday 20th November jetted back to the country after doing a double over Mauritius between 24th and 18th this past week.

The double header, was just round one of the journey to qualify for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations (AFCON U23) and with the Mauritius hurdle done, Coach Francis Kimanzi's boys will now wait for the winner between Sudan and the The Seychelles.

The coach however wants to put round one behind him and better his performance in the second round.

''We have put this (the win over Mauritius) behind us. Our focus is to get ourselves ready for the second round and I’m confident well do better than we did in the first round,” says Kimanzi upon touching down from Mauritius.

Kenya dispatched Mauritius 5-0 in Nairobi, goals scored by Johnstone Omurwa, Joseph Okumu, James Mazembe, Piston Mutamba and Sydney Lokale. On the road, Mazembe and Mutamba got a second each as Ovella Ochieng also delivered for Kim. Kenya won 8-1 on aggregate, the hosts squeezing in one in their own turf.

Round two is scheduled for March of next year- 2009 and a third and final round against Nigeria or Egypt will also lie in Kenya's path to the AFCON. The winner here will grace the 2019 AFCON set to be held in Egypt, with the tourney also serving as a qualifiers for 2020 Olympics.

Top three teams in the tournament will book a place in Tokyo.
