Kenya U23 head coach Francis Kimanzi has added five foreign based players to the initial 18-man squad that had been named ahead of their two legged AFCON U23 Qualifying tie against Mauritius.

Kimanzi who had trimmed his squad from 57 players to 18 has decided to drag England based duo of midfielder Henry Ochieng and striker Jonah Ayunga; both having been handed a call up to the senior national team that was expected to do duty against Sierra Leone in an AFCON Qualifier next month.

Other players who have been drafted to the team are Vasalund IF forward Ochieng Ovella and USA based defender Joseph Okumu together with midfielder Alwyn Tera who features for Georgia top flight side FC Saburtalo.

Earlier on Sunday, a provisional squad of 57 players, who had undergone a two-day assessment for possible inclusion into the team, was trimmed to an 18-man with the final squad set to hit camp on Friday 9 November.

Campaign

Kenya will start off their qualifying campaign at home on November 14, 2018, at the MISC Kasarani before jetting out to Mauritius for the reverse tie set to be played on November 18, 2018.

The winner of the tie-on aggregate will proceed to the second round, with a third round also in line; the final tourney, set to be played in November 2019, in Egypt, will act as a qualifier to the 2020 Olympics.
