According to AFC Leopards Team Manager Gilbert Selebwa, Ingwe will for the first time this season have its entire first choice back-line out as the team faces relegation threatened Thika United on Saturday 18th at the Thika Sub-county stadium from 3 pm Kenyan time.
Dennis Sikhayi, Robinson Kamura, Moses Mburu and Salim ‘Shittu’ Abdallah will all be out due to an injury plague that has hit the den.
‘’Kamura, Shittu, Mburu, Sikhayi are all out. They are still nursing injuries and will all miss the game against Thika. Isuza too is suspended but we are not worried,’’ says Selebwa.
Another key player, leading scorer Whyvonne Isuza will also be completing his two match suspension and is out of the clash.
Leopards edged Nakumatt 4-2 in their last league outing and the TM is confident that the Thika clash too will bring forth good tidings.
‘’Against Nakumatt we played with almost an entirely new back-line and they did well, I don't think it's something to worry about, the available players will do a good job," he adds.
Coach Rodolfo Zapata is therefore expected to field youngsters Kibwage Michael, Yusuf Mainge and maybe throw in Christopher Oruchum against his former side.
Ingwe, who sit third on the 18-team Kenyan Premier League log won the reverse tie 2-0 courtesy of goals from Whyvonne Isuza and Odera Ezekiel. Zapata’s side is on a three game winning streak that has seen him conquer Vihiga United, Mathare United and Nakumatt and will look to continue in that form on Saturday.
