Former AFC Leopards Head Coach Luc Eymael has joined Sudanese giants Al Mereikh on a one year renewable contract.
Eymael joins the Khartoum-based side from Oman outfit Al Nasr Salalah where he has served for three months. He moves in with his Tunisian assistant coach Hatem Belhouchet and has stated that he will suggest a new goalkeeper coach as the team gears up for the upcoming season.
“I have officially joined Al Merreikh on a one year renewable contract. We will pay the buyout clause of Al Nasr. Aside from my able assistant, will also have a new goalkeeper coach,” he told Soka
The team leaves for a ten day preseason camp in Cairo, Egypt over the weekend before heading to Addis Ababa for a seven day tournament and thereafter wind up the preparations with another ten day camp in Doha, Qatar.
“We will leave this weekend for a ten day camp in Cairo, then to Ethiopia for a tournament for seven days and later Qatar for another ten days in camp,” concluded the former AFC Leopards, AS Vital Club, Missile FC and Rayon Sport tactician.
Al Merreikh are the 2015 Sudanese Premier League and Sudanese Cup champions. They will represent the country in the 2016 CAF Champions League, a competition in which they reached the semifinal stages in 2015.
Kenyan international striker Allan Wanga has previously traded for the side for a season before moving to Tanzanian moneybags Azam FC in June 2015.
