Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has waived the gate charges for the Harambee Starlets second leg Under 20 World Cup qualifier match against Ethiopia slated for Saturday 30th September at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Fans will therefore attend the game free of charge in an attempt by the governing body to foster the growth of the Women’s game in the country.
FKF CEO Robert Muthomi is quoted in the federation’s official website as saying, “We remain committed to developing all aspects of women’s football in the country and it is in this perspective that we have decided to let fans watch the match for free.”
The Junior Starlets avoided defeat in the first game when they came from being two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw in a match played on Sunday 17 September at the Hawassa International stadium in Ethiopia.
The team is currently in camp preparing for the fixture. By avoiding defeat or a draw of more than 2 goals, Starlets will qualify for the second round of the kockout stage where a possible date with West African powerhouses Ghana awaits.
Ghana defeated Algeria 5-0 away in their first encounter.
