Goals from either half by Innocent Wafula and Godfrey Walusimbi were enough to hand Gor Mahia a 2-1 win over Bandari FC in a week seven Kenyan Premier League (KPL) tie held at the Mbaraki Sports Club on Wednesday 26 April.
Innocent Wafula making his first start for Gor Mahia this season was to give the visitors the lead in 12th minute after connecting well to a Godfrey Walusimbi pass to hit his effort past Joseph Okoth in the Bandai goal.
The home side, despite the setback, tried to rally back into the game with Danny Sserenkuma almost leveling scores minutes to the break but Bonface Oluoch raced past his line to clear the danger forcing the game to a 1-0 scoreline heading into the halftime break.

Ze Maria withdrew Kenneth Muguna for Amos Nondi five minutes after resumption with Paul Nkata introducing his son Fred Nkata for Danny Sserenkuma. Bandari was awarded a penalty in the 54th minute after Musa Mohammed tripped Shaban Kenga in the box. Up stepped Noah Abich to restore parity in the 54th minute.
The goal forced Ze maria to thrown in Olivier Maloba for George Odhiambo in the 62nd minute with the ex-City Stars providing the assist four minutes after his introduction. Maloba sent in an inviting cross which the overlapping Godfrey Walusimbi tucked in some fashion; his effort kissing the bottom of the bar before rolling into the net to restore Gor Mahia’s lead.
Gor Mahia is second on the log and will entertain Mathare United in their next tie while Bandari who are seventh on the log taking on Sofapaka.
