Gor Mahia became another high profile side after Ulinzi Stars to be dumped out of the GOtv Shield, going out at the second round after falling to the 2015 winners Bandari FC 5 – 6 on post match penalties, the teams having drawn 1 – 1 in normal time.

As Gor Mahia, playing at the Thika Sub County Stadium, suffered another early exit to the tournament, defending champions Tusker saw off National Super League (NSL) side Palos FC 1 – 0 in Meru at the Kinoru Stadium, the goal coming courtesy of Jackson Macharia’s 20th minute strike.

Nzoia Sugar through

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Nzoia Sugar also sailed on after knocking out Division One side Coast Stima 5-4 on post match penalties at the Mbaraki Sports Club. The two had played to a barren draw in regular time.

At Camp Toyoyo, Vihiga United won the battle of NSL sides, seeing off Ushuru FC 4-2 on post match penalties after a barren draw in regulation time.

NSL sides Bidco United and Wazito are also through to the next round.

KCB out

Bidco beat Rainforest 2-0 thanks to goals by Steven Onyango and Geoffrey Ouma while Ushuru edged out KCB 4-3 on post match penalties having settled for a 1-1 draw at 90 minutes.

In the early kickoff at Kinoru Stadium, home team Taqwa of Isiolo was denied a place in the next round after a 1- 2 fall to Savannah Cement.
