The second round of the GOtv Shield will conclude on Sunday 9 July after the first bunch of matches on Saturday saw nine teams secure slots in the third round of the tournament, which will have at least two clashes featuring all – premier league teams.
Kariobangi Sharks, who saw off Kenpoly to advance to the last 16, will get to play Sofapaka in the next round. Sofapaka will head to the game straight from another all premier league clash, having seen off Western Stima 1 – 0 in the second round.
Another all – premier league clash in the third round will pit the 2015 finalists Nakumatt FC against the winner in the tie between Gor Mahia and the 2015 champions Bandari FC. Gor and Bandari face off on Sunday at the Thika Sub County Stadium while Nakumatt saw off Modern Coast 8 – 7 on post match penalties in their second round clash.
Should Nzoia United win their second round clash against Coast Stima on Sunday, they will set up another clash pitting premier league teams, with Sony Sugar laying in wait after shocking the 2016 runners up Ulinzi Stars at Afraha Stadium.
In the other third round ties, Kakamega Homeboyz will take on the winner between Ushuru FC and Vihiga United while GFE 105 will be up against the winner between KCB and Wazito FC who face off on Sunday.
AFC Leopards, who saw off Nairobi Stima will take on the winning team in the clash pitting Bidco United against Rainforest at the Mumias Sub County Stadium.

The impressive Eldoret Youth, who saw off Nakuru AllStars in the first round before dumping out Young Divers in the second round, have a clash lined up with either Savannah Cement or Taqwa FC in the third round.
The team that had the easiest route to the last 16, Butterfly FC, will be up against the winner in the tie pitting defending champions Tusker FC against second tier side Palos FC. Butterfly advanced after their opponents Mwatate United failed to take to the pitch for their second round clash.
