A month after being released by US side New York Cosmos at the expiry of his contract, Harambee Stars defender David Cheche Ochieng has joined Swedish top flight side IF Brommapojkarna on a three year deal, the club has confirmed.
Ochieng becomes the second Stars player to join the side after the Allsvenskan newbies acquired the services of former Mathare United midfielder Eric Johanna late last year ahead of the season.
The defender, who two years ago had a trial stint with another Swedish side, Djugardens IF, expressed his delight at joining the team.
"I'm grateful to be here, it's a good club with good organization and good coach," Ochieng is quoted as saying by the club's official portal.
The player is confident he will be a success in the team and is banking on his vast experience to lift him at his new work station.
"I bring a lot of experience from playing in South America and the United States. I have played many international matches, both with club teams and the national team. I'm used to playing big matches with a lot of audiences, so I believe my experience and calmness will be beneficial to the team," Ochieng added.
Cheche started his football journey with National Super League (NSL) side Nairobi Stima and has played also for AFC Leopards and Tusker. From Tusker the defender moved to Saudi Arabia where he represented Al Taawon before joining New York Cosmos.
