Ten man Kenya rallied from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw with Sudan in an international friendly match played on Tuesday 31 May at the MISC Kasarani from 4.08pm EAT.
Nazar Hamid broke the deadlock on the 24th minute hitting past David Okello in goal after Tyrus Omondi had given away the ball, Nazar latching onto it to unleash a shot past Okello for the opening goal.
Substitute Francis Kahata was shown a red card on the 86th minute for a second bookable offence.
From the start, Kenya showed hunger, Wycliffe Ochomo had the first scoring chance on the first minute but failed to convert after getting onto an Erick Ouma pin-pointed cross from the left channel, his attempt instead hitting the woodwork.
On the 13th minute, Sudan had their free kick from Akramelhadi Igki picked by Okello as the Sudanese attacked from the flanks. Two minutes after Sudan took the lead, Ochomo had his goal disallowed for an offside.
Stanley Okumbi’s men had a chance to level ten minutes to the break but Ali Abondo’s free kick from the left channel was fruitless after Ouma had been brought down in full flight by Athar Eltahir.
The second half had Kenya splash several chances. On the 61st minute, substitute Jesse Were combined with Cliff Miheso to find Ali Abondo whose shot went wide. Six minutes later, Were failed to score his first international goal in normal time after being put through on goal by Abondo but shot off target.
