For the second half of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season, Kakamega Homeboyz will have to do without the services of striker Laminne Diallo who has joined Qatar Second Division Side Muaither SC on a one-year deal after a two - week trial period.
Diallo who joined Mike Mururi's team from Ushuru FC in February 2017 could not hide his delight after signing for the side and intimated to Soka that his main aim is to be a consistent figure in the first team.
“I'm so happy I have signed with a professional club. We were four players who came with hope of inking a deal with the club; I was the only one who came for trials, the others came to sign and I am happy that I made it.
“Now my main aim now is to work harder to be in the starting team and give an all-round good performance that will help my team win matches,” Diallo told Soka from his Qatar base.
Before joining Ushuru, Diallo featured for AFC Leopards in the first leg of the 2016 season where he is well remembered for scoring the lone goal in the Mashemeji Derby in Ivan Minnaert’s early days at the den, the strike that ended Gor Mahia's unbeaten run spanning through the entire title winning 2015 season.
Muaither is based in Doha and plays its home matches at the 24000-seater Thani Bin Jassim Stadium.
