Mathare United have acquired the services of Kenya U17 skipper Arnold Onyango Image-MUFC
Kenya U17 captain joins KPL side

Kenya U17 skipper Arnold Onyango has joined 2008 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Mathare United Football Club on a long term deal; this according to the club on their official social media feeds.

Onyango skippered the junior national team in the CECAFA Tournament held in Burundi earlier in the year and maintained the armband when the team participated in the AFCON U17 Qualifiers hosted in Tanzania in August 2018.

In a statement, Mathare noted: “Kenya Under 17 international Arnold Onyango has joined the club on a long term deal. Onyango, formerly of Laiser Hill Academy, is expected to provide more options in central midfield beyond Roy Okal and Francis Omondi.”

On his part the midfielder noted: "It's a dream come true to sign my first professional contract for a team with great history of nurturing young players like Mathare United.”

Onyango becomes the second signing for Mathare United ahead of the 2018/19 season with the club having earlier on Wednesday confirmed the return of winger Kevin Kimani who was in the books of Sofapaka in the 2018 season.

Onyango will hope to feature for his new club in their opening game of the season where they are slated to take on Chemelil Sugar FC on Saturday 8 December at the MISC Kasarani; the game slated for a 3pm EAT Kick Off.
