Uganda Cranes midfield maestro Khalid Aucho displayed flashes of brilliance as Scottish side Aberdeen beat Scottish League Two side Arbroath 4 – 1 in a friendly match played on Saturday 23 July at Gayfield Park.
Aberdeen fielded a strong side with three of the players who featured in their 1 – 0 win over Latvia side Ventspills in a UEFA Europa League qualifier on Thursday 21 July starting in the match. Peter Pawlette opened the scoring at the half hour mark slotting home from six yards after Anthony O’Connor had powered a header for Wes Burns who raced forward before finding the goal scorer.
Four minutes later, Stockley Jayden doubled the lead after he was played in by Burns. Stockley netted the third and his second on the day at the stroke of halftime as the side headed for the break leading 3 – 0.
The 22-year-old former Tusker FC and Gor Mahia midfielder was introduced on the 50th minute for Daniel Harvie who suffered an injury after clashing with an opponent.
With nine minutes to time, Miles Storey scored the fourth goal after latching onto a pass from Scott Wright. Arbroath grabbed a consolation on the 83rd minute through Gold who nodded home at the far post from a corner kick.
Aucho was impressive in the match, as reported on the club site, displaying some nice touches on his first match at the club. He started training with the side on Friday 22 July and will be looking to put in more effort for a deal with the club.
