KPL 2017: Nakuru to host Mashemeji derby

The first leg derby pitting AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will be hosted at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru on Sunday 7 May, the Kenyan Premier League (KPL)'s Competitions Administrator Michael Kirwa has confirmed.

Initially the match had been scheduled for Nyayo National Stadium or MISC Kasarani which are currently unavailable. The two stadiums are undergoing renovations ahead of the World U18 Youth championships in July 2017.

Sharks - Sony

Among other round 9 fixture changes will see the match involving Kariobangi Sharks and Sony Sugar played at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos upon the request of the home team, Sharks who have moved their home matches to Machakos from Thika Sub-County Stadium.

Sharks have so far managed two wins in three KPL matches hosted at the venue. They lost 1-3 to Gor Mahia the last time they played in Thika. The game will be played on Sunday 7 April.

Finally, Tusker FC will play Kakamega Homeboyz at Ruaraka grounds on Saturday 8 April. The match has been moved from Afraha Stadium with the brewers going for Ruaraka in low-risk matches.
