Kenyan Premier League (KPL) enters its week six of action with the Gor Mahia and Tusker FC clash being the highlighting of the week. Posta Rangers, who have started life under Sammy Omollo well comes against a Sharks team that has won their last two games with Zoo Kericho out to collect their first points of the season when they take on fellow newbies Nzoia Sugar.
So what should we expect in week six of action?
Chemelil FC v Bandari FC
Venue: Chemelil Complex
Ahead of their game against Bandari, Chemelil FC coach said his side had to tighten up defensively against the Dockers who seems to be scoring for fun of late. Chemelil currently sits at position seven with eight points with eight points just two points below their rivals and a win here, at their Chemelil Complex should top their agenda.
Muhoroni Youth v Sony Sugar
After a disastrous recruitment process in the January transfer window, reality is finally catching up with Muhoroni Youth on the quality of players at their disposal. They are currently second from bottom on four points, both coming on home turf against Kariobangi Sharks and Mathare United. Sony are on seven points and going by their display last week against Gor Mahia, they won’t be pushovers.

Nakumatt FC v Western Stima
Venue: Kenyatta Stadium-Machakos
Just as Muhoroni Youth, Nakumatt has struggled since the start of the season and their last week loss at the hands of fellow newbies Kariobangi Sharks was a result they will hope they can forget heading into this tie. Stima too aren’t in the best of forms and with only five points to their name, they won’t want to be left behind by the leading park and this is a must win for the Power Men.
Sofapaka FC v Kakamega Homeboyz
Venue: Camp Toyoyo
Going by the current happenings at Sofapaka, it seems their financial woes were their major undoing last season. After five rounds of games, they sit fourth on the league table and are only two points below leaders Gor Mahia. Their recruitment process seems to be paying dividends and with a coach of Sam Ssimbwa caliber, they seems to be in safe hands. Coming against Kakamega Homeboyz will be a tricky test but with the Mike Mururi side too not in the best of forms, this is a game Sofapaka will fancy.
Nzoia Sugar FC v Zoo Kericho
Venue: Sudi Stadium
Time: 3pm EAT
Nzoia started the league in a bright fashion but their two consecutive loss against AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks derailed their progress and now finds themselves in position eight. Their last weekend win over Kakamega Homeboyz more so after coming from a goal down should give the impetus when they come against a Zoo Kericho team who are the only team in the division yet to pick a single point.
Posta Rangers v Kariobangi Sharks
Venue: Afraha Stadium
Time: 2pm EAT
Rangers are second in the log and that tells a lot about their ambitions and aspirations this season. They seems to be enjoying their putting in the league under coach Sammy Omollo but must be aware of a Sharks team who have won their last two games on the trot and are welcoming some of their players back from the injury room.

Gor Mahia v Tusker FC
Venue: Afraha Stadium
Gor Mahia will be out to send a warning to the rest of the PL teams of their ambitions this season. After Tusker won the league accolade last season, Gor feels this is the perfect opportunity to remind the men in yellow that their 2016 crowning moment was a fluke and with the form that Tusker is currently exhibiting, it could be a torrid afternoon for the George Nsimbe side. Game of the week.
Thika United v AFC Leopards
Venue: Thiks Sub County Stadium
AFC Leopards is slowly on a positive prowl having only lost one game so far. They’ve been shaky at some points but with the return of striker Paul Kiongera and a number of players who missed their last outing against Muhoroni Youth but they should be wary of a Thika United team who have won all their home games this season; games they haven’t conceded in.
Ulinzi Stars v Mathare United
Venue: Afraha Stadium
Ulinzi Stars and Posta Rangers are the only team this season yet to lose a match however the soldiers should be worried by the number of draws they have recorded. Stephen Waruru is back and hopes he can propel his team to greater heights more so after losing goal scorer John Makwatta to Zambia. They come against Mathare United side who have just won one game and will be missing their head coach Francis Kimanzi on the touchline for a month.
