Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia will have to make do with midfielder Ernest Wendo when they face Mathare United in a Round 8 fixture to be played at the Thika Sub County Stadium on Sunday 20th April.

Wendo received his fifth booking of the season in the club’s last tie against Bandari, a clash they won 2-1, and this will force head coach Marcello Ze Maria to look for a perfect replacement for a player who has been one key member of the Gor Mahia team.

Wycliffe Ochomo

Apart from Wendo, Wycliffe Ochomo, who received his marching orders in Kakamega Homeboyz’ last tie against Ulinzi Stars, is also suspended. The move now forces coach Mike Mururi to task another player with the goal hunt duties when they take on newbies Nakumatt in their next tie.

On the league standings, Gor Mahia are placed second on 16 points; just a point below leaders Posta Rangers who comes against AFC Leopards in week eight of league action. Homeboyz win over Ulinzi Stars in wee seven of action was their second of the season; a result that broke the soldiers unbeaten run. The Mike Mururi coached side are placed ninth on nine points.
