KYOC spanks Y-Zone in mid-week friendly

FKF Division 1 side Kisumu Youth Olympic (KYOC) downed rivals Division 2 side Y-Zone in a mid-week friendly match staged at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Thursday 31 August.

The match started on a high note with both teams who are familiar with each other trying to bag the bragging rights.  KYOC forward Ken Otieno who announced his presence with a rasping shot ten minutes into the match, but Y Zone custodian Ken Ouma parried it to safety as things started to heat up.

Said opener

Olympic kept pushing for the opener and this time it was Richard Okello with an attempt in the 20th minute but Ouma in goal would punch the ball in Kevin Otieno’s path but the latter placed it wide. After several attempts, Meltas Said’s strike gave them the lead in the 25th minute.

Olympic now enjoying most of the possession, got a second goal netted by Okello from the spot after an infringement from Clinton Bulimo in the area to the match into the break with the Division one side on a 2-goal cushion.

After the breather, Y Zone pulled one back through Reagan Moses in the 62nd minute, but former Nakuru All stars striker Brian Mandela would put an icing on the cake for Olympic with goal number three deep into stoppage time.
