Vihiga United Football Club are setting their sights on the National Super League title (NSL), a feat which would very well double up as an automatic promotion to the Kenyan Premier League and have done so by bolstering their squad for the second leg.

Currently at the summit of the NSL log level on points with Nairobi Stima at 35 points from 16 games, Vihiga have won 10 games, drawn five and lost one. They top the table by virtue of a superior goal difference of 16 goals to Nairobi Stima’s 12. The Edward Manoah-coached side are in red hot form coming from a 7-0 win at GOtv round of 32 against Elim and are unbeaten in their last 10 matches.

Mean Defense

In line with their vision of getting to the Promised Land (KPL), they've had themselves busy in the transfer activities that got 16 players involved. Seven of those were shipped out of the club while nine were signed in.

Four of their nine signings climb down from the Kenyan Premier League while the rest have been shipped in from NSL rivals. Only 2 of their nine signing were defenders, a clear indicator of what Manoah wants of his boys in the second leg. In truth they really didn’t need any defenders having the league’s joint meanest defense allowing just 6 goals all season same as KCB.
