Mathare United rope in former KPL Player of the Year

Mathare United have completed the signing of immediate former Sofapaka winger, Kevin Kimani on a two-year deal. 

 Kimani rejoins the Slum Boys six years after he left the club for a professional stint abroad. Mathare through a statement posted on their official social media channels have confirmed Kimani's capture. 

 "Mathare United FC We are glad to confirm that Kevin Kimani has rejoined the club on a two-year deal from Sofapaka," Mathare announced. 

 "Kimani returns for his second stint at the club having won the Kenyan Premier League Player of the Year gong in 2011.

Back home 

the attacking midfielder who has featured for Tusker FC, KCB and Sofapaka in the Kenyan Premier League expressed his delight at returning 'home' and revealed that he has already settled at the club.

 "I think the feeling is mutual, both the club and I are happy to reunite. I have already settled in because I understand the style of play. Having worked with coach Kimanzi before it has been very easy to blend in. He knows very well what I can offer,” said Kimani.

 Kimani becomes Mathare's first signing this window.
