Wazito FC forward Pistone Mutamba is delighted to have received a call up to the Kenya under 23 squad and has vowed to impress if handed a chance in the upcoming friendly match against Uzbekistan.
Mutamba who had a chance to try out it with Harambee Stars in 2017 received the first ever call up to the under 23 squad that will play their first friendly in March, a match which is set to kick start the preparations for the 2019 African Under 23 championship and the 2020 Olympics.
The striker will compete with likes Brian Yator, Okoth Daniel, Jafari Owiti and Vincent Oburu for the striking role in the team and has promised to make the country proud after the call up.
“This is great. It is the first time I am called to the under 23 team but the second call-up for the country. I will put my best performance to make the country proud”, he said.
The striker joined Wazito FC at the start of the 2015 season from Kakamega High School's Green Commandos and went on to bag 14 goals in 2017 as the Wazito FC earned a placed in the Kenyan Premier League.
He will be hoping to impress under new head coach Francis Kimanzi and his assistant John Kamau.
