Round six of the National Super League (NSL) continued on Monday 12 March with three matches taking place at the Camp Toyoyo and Karuturi grounds. League leaders Kibera Blackstars suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down by a solitary goal at the hands of KCB in the day’s early kickoff.

Chrispinus Onyango scored the game’s only goal early in the first half to secure the third win in five games for John Kamau’s charges which in propelled them up to sixth on the log with 10 points, three behind leaders Blackstars who still top the standings despite the loss, with 13 points from six matches.

The result for KCB adds to last time’s 2-1 victory against league debutants Kangemi AllStars as Kamau steers the promotion favourites in the right direction after a setback against Modern Coast Rangers.

The Bankers were also deducted three points they had been awarded against Muhoroni Youth who failed to show up for their league opening tie in February. Muhoroni subsequently failed to honour their next two matches and were in turn relegated from the division, which saw all the points awarded against the team revoked.

In Karuturi, Kenya Police maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they thrashed newbies Kangemi AllStars 3-0. Police alongside St. Joseph Youth make up the only two remaining teams yet to taste defeat in the division.

Charles Korea Omondi’s charges move up to third on the log with 11 points from six games while AllStars remain in position 14 with six points from as many matches.
