Ulinzi Stars will be playing host to Sofapaka in their Last match of 2018 and the Soldiers, coming from a barren draw with Mathare United in the last game, will be looking to finish the year on a high. Ulinzi forward Ezekiel Okare has his guns cleaned up, ready to take on his former employers in the Saturday 29 December clash.
Okare’s last home game for Ulinzi Stars produced his first goal for the team he joined in November and heading to this clash he is hoping to add to his tally and he is counting on home comforts, with the team looking to turn Afraha Stadium into a fortress.
Carrying great memories from his two years at Sofapaka, this is definitely a special game for the forward but that alone, he says, is enough motivation to go for the kill.
“We are confident ahead of the game; we have trained well so far and we still have a few paces to take but the most important thing is the focus we take to the game. In the last home game I managed to get my first goal of the season and I hope the same rubs in when Sofapaka visits.
“I played for them and it will be special to face them again. Having been there earlier is enough motivation for me,” he told the club website.
Sofapaka is a side in transition, with a new coach and a number of new players and Okare acknowledges they are a strong unit but still, he will be eyeing a full haul of three points from the match.
“They have a new coach but I think they are still the formidable side I left. We know how they play and we will devise our strategy well towards that; at the end of it, we hope to pick three points,” he added.
Sofapaka beat Ulinzi Stars home and away in the 2018 season meetings, at Afraha Stadium and Narok County Stadium. Both sides have four points from the opening three matches.
