Ulinzi Stars continued with their pre-season preparations ahead of the new 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season with a 1-1 draw against second tier National Super League side Coast Stima.
Freshly roped-in from Sofapaka FC, Ezekiel Okare- wasted no time recording his first goal for the club. His debut goal was however cancelled out by Kassim Nzai for the hosts as the teams settled for a tied scoreline.
Coach Dunstan Nayudo's charges are in Mombasa for the preps and look to sharpen up a decent squad to avoid the in-consistencies that hampered their 2018 KPL campaign. The military men have so far signed Okare, Clinton Omondi from SoNy Sugar. Former Palos FC center-half Brian Odhiambo has also joined the soldiers' pre-season in Mombasa and is being assessed for a possible deal with the club.
Ulinzi finished fourth on the 18-team KPL log having garnered 54 points from 34 matches. They have since lost one Cliff Kasuti to Safapaka, his immediate replacements though- are ready for the mantle.
Ezekiel Okare, while speaking to the soldiers' web, says he is focused on repaying the faith by scoring many goals.
“I am happy to make this move; it is a new challenge for me and an opportunity to continue my growth both as a person and as a player. I am ready for it. So far the support has been good and I am thankful to Ulinzi. My target is to score as many goals as possible, to repay that faith,” he says the Business Studies graduate from Moi University.
Ulinzi begin the 2018/19 season against Vihiga United on December 9 in Mumias.
