Kenyan Premier League (KPL)  side Kakamega Homeboyz FC assistant coach Peter Okidi has blamed late arrival for their 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks at the Kenyatta stadium, Machakos on Saturday 15 July.

Speaking to journalists after the match, Okidi mentioned that the team took too long to settle into the match since they did not warm up properly. He however lauded his charges for putting up a good show and picking a point from the match.

Late arrival

"The game was good, and in as much as we did not have time to warm up well since we arrived late and it might have affected us on the pitch but we had our moments,'' says the former Nakuru AllStars tactician.

Homeboyz have had one of the best defensive records in the league, in fact- Saturday's draw leaves them joint first in terms of goals conceded so far after 16 rounds of matches. Alongside Posta Rangers and Kariobangi Sharks, they have allowed just nine goals past them this season. Okidi has lauded his boys for holding off Sharks.

''We did well to hold them off in the first half and that's football, if you get a chance and grab it in such a game you can win one nil, you miss the few chances it becomes harder to score," he concludes.

Sharks will take on Zoo Kericho in their next match while Homeboyz host Mathare United in Kakamega.
