Newly appointed Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has come under sharp scrutiny from the team's followers over his style of play, after replacing Briton Dylan Kerr but he insists he has a philosophy that might take his players some time to grasp and calls for patience.

The team hasn't been as fluid as in the seasons before and the Turkish-British coach has blamed the team's struggles on lack of a proper preseason but believes his players are getting better with each game and will soon adopt his style.

“Without fitness it is very difficult for the players to play the way I want. Every coach has a different philosophy and mine is different from what they had before me. They didn’t do preseason but I have good intelligent players who I realized are getting better in every game. I am telling everyone that we can only get better and we will. The Gor Mahia we know is coming back strongly,” Oktay said.
