Gor Mahia’s surge at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log was slowed by Chemelil Sugar as the Muhoroni based club came from a goal down to hold the champions to a 2-2 draw in a midweek league affair staged at Kericho Green Stadium on Wednesday 25 April.
Humphrey Mieno got the ball rolling for the visitors with a goal in the fourth minute before Innocent Wafula turned provider in the 27th minute when his cut back was tucked in by Ivorian import Ephrem Guikan.
Oluoch's Red Card
The champions were then reduced to ten men in the 59th minute when keeper Boniface Oluoch handled the ball outside his box. Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr was forced to sacrifice Guikan for Peter Odhiambo.
Chemelil used the one-man advantage well, and pulled a goal back with twenty minutes remaining on the clock through Charles Okiya with Benedicto Jacobs restoring parity in the 72nd minute after some good work from Collins Netto.
