Two goals on either half saw Posta Rangers post a 2-1 win over Nzoia Sugar at the Ruaraka Stadium on Friday 14 July, the three points enough to send them top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) table.

Dennis Mukaisi opened the scores in the 23rd minute with Joseph Mbugi adding the second in 72nd minute, through a penalty awarded after Edwin Wafula brought down Titus Achesa in the box.

Ochieng red

Rangers were to end the half a man short after Luke Ochieng was handed a straight red card five minutes after their opener for an off the ball tackle on Festus Okiring in the 28th minute.

Patrick Kwitonda then scored Nzoia Sugar's consolation in the 87th minute.

Previously, an apparent hand ball in the Posta Rangers box got the sugar millers appealing for a penalty but the referee would hear none of it.

Matasi sent off

At the death Rangers were reduced to nine players after keeper Patrick Matasi received a second yellow card. Both bookings were due to time wasting.

With the three points the Sammy Omolo coached Rangers assume pole position with 29 points pushing down former leaders Gor Mahia down to second with a point less.
