After their round six Kenyan Premier League (KPL) loss at the hands of Tusker FC, Sofapaka FC continued to fine tune ahead of their weekend duel against Vihiga United with a midweek 3-1 win over National Super League (NSL) side Police FC in a friendly match.
The clash, staged at the Ruiru Stadium on Wednesday 10 January, saw goals from Cliff Kasuti, Umaru Kassumba and Stephen Waruru settle it for Melis Medo's side ahead of the trip to Western Kenya.
The result, albeit not important, pleased coach Melis Medo who noted that he is testing a new plan ahead of the weekend tie and was glad that it worked.
“We have prepared well and we have a plan and we will stick to it. This game helped us to look at our plans and execute and I am happy with how we did.We have worked on correcting our mistakes, the morale is high and the players are progressing the ball well, they are working as a team and are hungry more than ever before,” the tactician is quoted by the club’s official portal.
The team is scheduled to depart for Western Kenya in the early hours of Saturday and will hope they can improve on their 11th place spot. Both Sofapaka and Vihiga are on six points heading into this clash.
