Preparations for the 2017 season at Western Stima have commenced, with the team reporting to training on Tuesday 3 January and club chairman Laban Jobita confirms the club has made three signings with one more set to follow soon.

According to Jobita, the club has secured signatures for Muhorroni Youth skipper Wycliffe Nyangechi, Ushuru FC midfielder Evans Kiwanuka and Palos keeper Gad Mathews while talks are ongoing to have Chemelil Sugar keeper Samuel Odhiambo join in.

Two – year deals

He confirms the three new players have been handed two – year deals and backed them to add impetus to the team in the 2017 season, with view of finishing higher than the sixth place they managed in 2016.

“We have signed Nyangechi and Kiwanuka who will bring on board some good experience having played for long in the premier league while Gad is more of a star for the future but will bring in some good competition in the goalkeeping department.

“Gad featured for our U20 team and he is aware of how we operate so it will not take him long to adapt,” he told Soka.

As for Odhiambo, Jobita said an agreement in principle has been reached with just a little of paperwork to be done to complete the move.

“Odhiambo’s deal will be announced soon; at the moment we are only clearing with a few hurdles but I can say it is very close,” he added.

The team may have a reason to smile with the deal for keeper Gabriel Andika to AFC Leopards likely not to happen. Jobita, in an earlier interview stated that Andika is still a key player for the team.
