Kepha Aswani came off the bench to score two quick goals as Nakumatt stunned title contenders Posta Rangers; beating them 2-0 in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday 9 September.

Aswani who started from the bench replaced Kelvin Thairu after the break and scored two quick goals in 71st and 73rd minutes to help Nakumatt end its recent poor run in the league.

Posta dominance

The first half was largely dominated by Posta but they could not get past Ezekiel Owade in the Rangers goal. Dennis Mukaisi's header went over inside the first ten minutes while Jerry Santos' long range scorcher came off the upright as Sammy Omollo's charges looked to make the dominance count. Gerishon Likono saw his header from a Simon Mbugua cross miss the target by inches.

In the end, Patrick Matasi was rarely tested. David Naftali saw his header from a Peter Nzuki cross fly over the bar and just before the break, John Njoroge burst into the area but his feeble shot came off the bar with Matasi at full stretch.

Nakumatt resurgence

Nakumatt upped their performance after the interval making inroads into Posta penalty area. Boniface Akenga and Joshua Oyoo both came close to finding the back of the net but lack of precision saw them squander opportunities. Posta saw their chances wane after the break as they struggled to create any meaningful chances despite seeing more of the ball than their opponents.

Out of the run of play, Nakumatt took the lead in the 71at minute through substitute Kepha Aswani who finished past Matasi after excellently connecting to a Joshua Oyoo cross from the right flank. Two minutes later, the former AFC Leopards man got his second of the match finishing off another Oyoo pass from an excellent half volley.

Bandari 0-1 Sharks

Masoud Juma was yet again the toast for Kariobangi Sharks this time dimming his former side Bandari FC barely ten minutes after being introduced. The win keeps Sharks in firm contention for the title at position five after 22 rounds of matches.
