Gor Mahia Football Club on Thursday 13th went into the History books as the first club to host English Premier League side Everton FC on African soil. Even though eventually going down by a 2-1 score-line, the 15-time Kenyan champions put on a display that left everyone at the National stadium in Dar es Salaam awed.

Returning Wayne Rooney had put the EPL side on the front-foot with a powerful right footed drive from outside the 18 yard area but this was equaled by Rwandese international Jacques Tuyisenge's brilliant near-post header from a Kenneth Muguna corner kick by the time the referee called for half time. Youngster Kieran Dowell however won it for Everton with a late pile-driver in the second half.
