Salim Babu's Sony Sugar FC will miss the services of three key players when they take the trip to Mumias to take on Kakamega Homeboyz in a rescheduled Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash on Wednesday 6 September at the Mumias Sports Complex.
Center - back Kevin Oluoch and forwards George Abege and Marwa Champberi are all ruled out with injury but even with the setback the coach is confident his charges will give a good account of themselves, as he eyes at least a point from the game, in the worst case scenario.
"I have confidence in my players; this season all of them have been putting up a good show whenever they are given a chance. In the GOtv Shield against Bandari, for instance, I missed six key players but the ones given the chance stepped up and finished the business. It is unfortunate that Abege picked an injury in our last friendly match on Monday and will not play. Oluoch and Marwa are still out and will miss the match, but I'm positive the boys will do well," he said.
While they focus on the game, the Millers will be boosted by the return of Tanzanian international Abdalla Hamisi and Moses Asembeka who have been away on national assignments for Taifa Stars and Kenya's Harambee Stars respectively. According to Babu the duo will inject the much needed oomph in the squad.
"Asembeka and Hamisi will be available for selection against Homeboyz which is a plus; so I hope they will be in good shape, since they are some of our dependable players. Homeboyz are good and we will not underrate them whatsoever. The fact that we are playing away calls for more caution, but I believe we can register a good result," he added.
The Awendo based side is 14th on the log with 23 points while Homeboyz sits sixth on 31 points, both teams having played 21 matches.
