The mass exodus at beleaguered Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Chemelil Sugar FC continues with the latest being youngster Farraj Odeny’s entry at Ruaraka side Tusker FC.  Odeny, just one and a half years old at the sugar millers, joins Tusker on a 3 year deal and adds to the list of Chemelil exits that include Maxwell Onyango, Collins Neto, Phillip Muchuma, Wesonga Kelvin just to mention a few.

According to the club’s official website, Odeny is Tusker’s second acquisition after the Tuesday 12th capture for former Bidco United marksman David Juma.

‘’Tusker FC have completed the signing of Farraj Ominde, who has been brought in to provide competition in the Tusker midfield,’’ reads a statement from the club’s website.

The 19 year old could not hide his excitement at joining the Brewers, terming the move as a dream come true.

‘’I cannot quite believe it, there were a few offers but they promised to take me in December. So I had to do another six months at Chemelil, then Tusker came and said they wanted me immediately,’’ he reveals.

Word on the ground had been that Odeny, a twin brother to AFC Leopards winger Jeffary Odeny, was to join Ingwe- a move that could have seen three brothers feature for one top flight club at the same time. Aziz Okaka, their elder brother is also stationed at the den.

The Tusker move however renders all these null and the youngest Odeny will be in the black and yellow for the Brewers. Vihiga United were also reportedly after his signature. A regular at Chemelil Sugar in the first half of the 2018 KPL season, Odeny further reveals that the promise of adequate playtime from Coach Robert Matano also played a hand in this move.

‘’I did talk to the coach and he said he just wanted results, and that he would give me the playtime I need in order to get them. After settling here at Tusker, I’ll have my eyes on the national teams,’’adds the central midfielder who turned out for Kakamega Homeboyz in the 2016 KPL U20 tournament.

Matano’s next assignment after sharing the spoils with Posta Rangers on Monday is a clash against bottom side Wazito FC. Just like Juma did against Posta, Odeny will be looking to make his debut in just the first match after training with the team.
