Former Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker FC will intensify their pre-season preparations this coming Friday 23rd with a friendly match against Malawian top flight side Silver Strikers.
The Brewers, who have been busy in the ongoing transfer period, will also be looking to sample out their new signings in the tie set for Ruaraka.
Silver Strikers play are currently placed second on the log to Nyasa Big Bullets- Kenyan champions Gor Mahia's opponents in the first round of the CAF Champions League.
In a communique posted on the club's official website, Tusker will parade their new acquisitions in the tie that is set to test their readiness for the 2018/19 KPL season. Among names roped in at Ruaraka are 2017 KPL MVP Michael Madoya, left-backs Sammy Meja and Hillary Wandera, and center-half Rodgers Aloro.
''Tusker head coach Robert Matano will be checking out on the new players he has recruited in his squad going into next season which is two weeks away and also to keep the players’ competitiveness in check,'' reads the statement.
Coached by one Young Chimodzi, Silver Strikers have a rich history of conquests in the Malawian top division, winning eight championships. They are the current holders of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.
As the domestic cup holders, Strikers are the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup representatives for Malawi and are in fact on their way to Gabon where they are set to play Cercle Mbéri Sportif on 27th November.
Robert Matano's side finished the 2018 KPL season placed 3rd on the 18-team log, and having joined the side midway through the campaign- the former AFC Leopards head coach looks set to begin on a clean slate.
The match will kick-off at 3pm EAT at the Ruaraka Grounds.
