A 75th minute goal by Enos Ochieng handed hosts Ulinzi Stars a 2-1 win over ten-man Bandari at the Afraha Stadium as a Joel Tata strike for Thika handed the hosts a 1-0 win over visiting Zoo FC of Kericho, both games played on Sunday 9 April.
The two were part of six games lined up for Sunday across different venues.
Ulinzi 2 Bandari 1
A goal by former Harambee Stars defender Geoffrey Kokoyo in the first minute of the game handed Ulinzi the perfect start against a Bandari side that landed in Nakuru with an unbeaten run three games into the season.
The hosts however forced an even game to the break when dead ball master Noah Abich converted an awarded penalty in the 44th minute.
On the other half Ochieng's goal made the difference as it brought the unbeaten check to a rude end. The visiting team ended the game a man short after Wilson Oburu was given his matching orders five minutes to time.
Thika United 1 Zoo FC 0
Cameroonian Tata who in the off-season had gone out to seek pastures anew, made the difference in this match as his cool finish to a pass from midfield handed Thika an immediate bounce back after their 1-0 loss to Sony Sugar last week Sunday.
While Thika came good, Zoo who earned promotion at the start of the season were sent back to the drawing board after dropping their fourth straight top flight game.
The game was the second of a double header and was played after a sofapaka - Tusker clash that ended 2-2.
From the games, Ulinzi is at seventh place with as many points and behind third placed Bandari due to point difference as Thika moved to ninth with six points. Zoo continues to prop the 18-team standings with no points.
