After being slowed down by Nairobi Stima and Modern Coast with a 0-1 loss and 1-1 draw respectively, Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier has admitted that pressure is mounting ahead of their National Super League (NSL) clash against Wazito FC slated for Sunday 10 September at the Mumias Sports Complex stadium.
In as much as Vihiga is going into the match as favourites going by their top dog status on the log, Xavier prefers a cautious approach since he is aware that Wazito are no pushovers. Both teams are eying promotion and none of them will let their guard down easily, the tactician asserts.
"We beat Wazito 2-0 in the first leg but that does not count now since this is a totally different game, that needs a different approach. I know they will come with a strategy to counter ours and so we have prepared well to avoid any upsets," he said.
"It is a tough match because Wazito is a good side with a similar objective as ours of pushing for promotion to the top tier league. They will come here for a win and therefore we have to be at our best. We have not registered the best results in our last two matches, so we are hoping to return to our winning ways," he added.
The hosts sit at the helm of the NSL log with 51 points from 23 matches, while Wazito are fifth with 43 points having played to games less.
