Gor Mahia will miss the services of midfielder Francis Kahata when they take on Malawi's Nyasa Bullets in the two side's CAF Champions League preliminary round second-leg encounter on Wednesday 5 December in Blantyre as the midfielder is believed to be on the verge of joining Algeria side CS Constantine.

Speaking after the Super Cup loss to Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday 2, club chairman Ambrose Rachier confirmed that the club is yet to receive an official request for the player but that he (Rachier) has been in contact with an agent who is brokering the deal and every precaution not to sabotage it has been taken including leaving Kahata off the team that will take on Big Bullets so as not to have him cup tied.

Official Letter

“We are yet to get an official letter but one Ashuri sent me a Whatsapp message and he’s told me he is an agent of Constantinois and apart from giving me his number we are yet to receive any official communication from the club and that’s why you saw Kahata play for us in the Super Cup. But if he plays for us for the CAF game he won’t be taken by the team and that’s the only area we have a problem with but we are still communicating,” Rachier said.

With Gor Mahia having struggled against Big Bullets in the 1-0 first-leg win and falling to Sharks in the Super Cup, Rachier admitted that Sharks had given them a run for their money and alluded to last season's fixture congestion as the reason as to why they have had a slow start to the season.

“We have to be a bit worried. We lack the required match fitness. Sharks were the better team on the day and we have to work harder if we are to compete. We had a lot of matches to play last season and it might have an impact on the players furthermore we have not had the required time to play together as a new team and a times I think the gelling isn’t at per just yet,” Rachier added.

After the CL game, Gor will begin their league title defence with an away trip to last season's second place finishers Bandari this coming weekend.
